Christian Dvorak scored two goals and the Arizona Coyotes rallied from three goals behind to beat the Ducks 4-3 in a tough Monday night game.
The highly anticipated debut of Anaheim’s top -Interested Trevor Zegras was the hit.
Arizona goalkeeper Darcy Kuemper was among five players penalized during a long hand-to-hand combat that set the physical tone early. The first period ended with two fights and the teams connected for a total of 46 penalty minutes.
The Ducks, the team with the lowest score in the NHL, scored two goals in the opening phase and led with 3 at the start of the second round: 0.
Arizona stormed back to tie it with three goals in less than four minutes in the second half and went for Dvorak’s second goal in the third.

David Backes scored for the Ducks, who lost to the Minnesota Wild for the second time in three nights and fell 5-1 at the Honda Center.
Jakob Chychrun had a goal and an assist for Arizona. Derick Brassard also scored and Kuemper stopped 24 shots.
Anaheim hit the desert with 33 goals in the NHL, but didn’t need much time to score the first goal against Arizona. Silfverberg scored three minutes later and hit Kuemper between the pads after stealing the puck from Johan Larsson.
Jones later achieved a two-man lead to 2-0 in a duel and sat down in close combat against the fallen defender von Arizona, Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Kuemper came in to defend his captain and five players landed in the penalty area, including three Coyotes.
Jones fought John Hayden later in that period, then Lawson Crouse and Derek Grant of Arizona dropped gloves in the final seconds. </ Fowler made it 3-0 in the first two minutes of the third period with a shot through a screen.
Dvorak hit Gibson with a penalty after Silfverberg hit him with a shorthanded breakaway. It was the third penalty goal in Coyotes history.
Brassard pulled Arizona within 3-2 and two minutes later a pass from Conor Garland. Chychrun tied it up less than two minutes later and slapped Gibson on the glove side before turning him over.
Dvorak gave Arizona its first lead – in a power play, of course – by diverting a shot from Chychrun early in the third period .
