Colombian striker Radamel Falcao sustained a serious head injury while training with Galatasaray, the Turkish club said in a statement on Sunday.
The 35-year-old Falcao collided with a teammate during the session on Sunday and was rushed to hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken face and had surgery.
Falcao moved from AS Monaco to Istanbul in 2019, having previously played for Porto, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.
He has scored eight goals in the Turkish Super Lig for Galatasaray this season, who are third in the overall standings.
