World News – GB – BBC confirms that ‘Gavin & Stacey’ will return with new episodes in the future

After the BBC returned to our screens last year for a much-anticipated Christmas special, it has confirmed plans for Gavin & Stacey to return to the future.

Unfortunately, no new episodes will hit our screens for Christmas 2020, but BBC Television’s director Charlotte Moore has said the popular sitcom will return to our screens.

According to Radio Times, last year’s festive special drew a staggering 18 million viewers in the UK and left the country on a cliffhanger when the show ended and Nessa Smithy made a suggestion.

Earlier this year, both of the sitcom’s writers – James Cordon and Ruth Jones – had rather vague answers when asked about the show’s future.

Speaking to the press at this year’s National Television Awards, Jones said, « They [fans] ask if there’s going to be more, and the answer is, I really don’t know.

« It was difficult to get together to write [the 2019 Christmas Special] and find time when everyone was available to film. So there are many hurdles to overcome.

« And it’s also a nice thing to let it hang in the air and ask yourself, » Have you ever married or not? « So we’ll see. « 

Also, Cordon – best known in the US for hosting the Late Late Show – told the BBC in February, « I’ll be perfectly honest, there are no more plans because a lot of it is about time and distance.

« I think Ruth and I if we ever did something we would approach it the same way we tried last time, just do it on our own and see if we felt like it to have something that wouldn’t. « don’t ruin it.

« Because all is well and good when people say they want someone else, and that is extremely flattering, but they just want one who doesn’t tarnish them in any way. So we’re really going to do our best to at least think about it, but there are currently no plans to ever make a new one. « 

It seems like everyone wants it to happen, it’s just the time to make it happen!
