This image of the abandoned car, showing it blocking a train right next to a platform at Stirling station, was posted on Twitter by Scotrail
Scotrail said in a Tweet: « Car has encroached on train tracks in Stirling We are working closely with emergency services
« We are able to divert trains around this obstacle using platforms 6 & 9 at the station Use P6 if you are heading for Perth / Aberdeen and P9 for Glasgow / Edinburgh »
Anyone considering heading north to Perth or Aberdeen or Edinburgh or Glasgow has been warned to use other platforms to avoid the car
They said: « The @ NetworkRailScot team is on their way – they will be working to remove the car, inspect the track and hopefully reopen platforms 2 and 3 as quickly as possible. »
A spokesman for the UK Transport Police said: « Officers were called to Stirling station at 12:17 pm this afternoon following reports of a car on the tracks
« The car accidentally ended up on the tracks in the station parking lot
A ScotRail spokesperson added: ‘Some services to and from Stirling experienced delays and changes as emergency services attend to an incident at the station
