The raison d’être of Ray Crosby (played by Mark Frost) in Coronation Street is slowly unveiled The seedy businessman plans to take over a few houses on the cobblestones and redevelop them without the knowledge of the owners of origin But a key could be thrown in the works if a family member arrives and starts causing trouble
In an interview with Expressco UK and other press, the actor who plays Ray spoke about his character’s intentions
He said: « I think what interests me – and maybe it’s hard to convey sometimes – is where [Ray being driven by success / ruthless] comes from
« There have been clues about this in scripts that he says he grew up on streets like Coronation Street and yet to him it doesn’t seem like a source of pride or community
« So we wonder what it is his past or his education that he almost wants to bury, » added Mark
« He talks a lot about being a self-taught man who started out at a hamburger stand off the main road and I think he’s one of those people who thinks that because he’s been successful through hard work and determination there is no excuse for anyone else
« Ray one of those types of people, who thinks the outside pitfalls of success are all important, and you have to advertise yourself as a substantial person by these things and somehow everything else is a fair game « , the newcomer continued
« I think it’s interesting that he’s not on any road or at least that we can see, we don’t see that, he’s a bit lonely »
« Debbie, she’s a real estate developer and she’s been living in Turkey for several years and she’s back on the streets because she heard about a development going on and wanted to get involved because that’s where she was raised

« She knew Ray because she was dating him at the time, which is why she got involved, » she added
