DAWN French has claimed that she has gained weight, calling herself a ‘barrel’ after losing seven stones in 2014
The 62-year-old star went on to insist that she « didn’t give a damn » about her changing height when she opened up in her new podcast
Speaking in French & Saunders: Titting About, Dawn explained: « I went back to being a whole barrel but you know what, I’m going to be 63 this year, I don’t care ** *, Really not , as long as I can walk
« I won’t be stingy with myself anymore I never hated anything in my body, even when I was very, very fat I refuse to be forced not to love myself
« I was really mad when I was losing weight, people would tell me ‘You look so good’ like you looked awful before – rewarding yourself for managing it, which didn’t it’s not easy, I accept that
Although she referred to herself as a ‘barrel’, Dawn looked slim when she stepped out in London last month, covering herself in a mask and a flowing black coat
The comedy icon began her weight loss journey in 2014, with some believing at the time that it was the result of her 25-year marriage to Sir Lenny Henry that ended four years older early
However, she revealed during her 30 million minute tour that it was actually so she could have a hysterectomy
Dawn told fans at the time, « When I was due to have my hysterectomy, the doctor told me that if I could lose weight before the operation, they could do it through the keyhole and I would recover in three weeks or so
« Otherwise it would be a big open surgery and three months to recover So I started dropping some stones
« No magic wand, just a tiny, joyless diet and a lot more walking for weeks and weeks It was dark I lost seven and a half stones I could have the keyhole surgery Awesome That’s all it was, convenient «
She has been very open about her changing form in the past, revealing that she has a « fondness for this other body »
Dawn was a 19 stone at her heaviest, with it is believed that she eventually lost eight stones in total after years of healthy eating and dedication
