Day tickets for next year’s Download Festival go on sale today as 17 more bands are announced for June 2021
These include Megadeth, Descendents, Boston Manor, Northlane, Venom Prison, Salem, The Skints, Renounce, Static Dress and The Injester
They join the line up announced at the end of July, titled by KISS, Biffy Clyro and System Of A Down, bringing the total number of acts on the list to date to more than 85
The three-day Donington Park festival in Castle Donington, nicknamed « the spiritual home of rock », is scheduled to take place June 4-6 at its usual venue in Donington Park – having been forced to cancel this year because only from the coronavirus pandemic
Megadeth, one of the Big Four of American thrash metal, will come to Donington for the first time since 2016, as headliners of the second stage
Having recently celebrated their 35th anniversary, the legendary band, led by frontman Dave Mustaine, are set to perform a selection of their biggest hits for Download
And punk rock legends Descendents will perform at the Download Festival for the first time as headliners of the third stage
The Californian punk group was formed in 1977, and can count Blink-182, The Offspring, Green Day and NOFX in the list of groups that cite them as one of their greatest inspirations
Creeper frontman Will Gould will not only be performing with Creeper at Download 2021, but now also with his new UK project duo Salem
He said: « I am delighted and honored to announce that Salem will be performing at this year’s Download Festival. Looking forward to staying out of the sun with all of you in 2021 »
And it’s not all American bands, because Boston Manor, favorite of Blackpool pop punk, will also be playing
Other announced UK acts include; Welsh death metal outfit Venom Prison, London hardcore five-piece outfit Renounce, exciting new emo outfit Static Dress, Lancaster rock band Massive Wagons and London reggae punks The Skints
Previously announced bands also include: Deftones, KORN, Steel Panther and The Distillers and camping tickets went on sale in August
Kiss’s appearance at the festival will be a UK exclusive 2020 was supposed to be their last download appearance, but due to Covid-19 they will be bringing their show to 2021 instead
The headliners for the final day are System of A Down and bassist Shavo Odadjian said: “We are disappointed that we were unable to survive this year, but we look forward to the next one
