World News – GB – EastEnders’ Ian Lies To Beales As Money Problems Build Up

Ian Beale continued to lie to everyone around him tonight as his money problems piled up at EastEnders

The schemer faces pressure from all sides, after getting money he stole from his business partner Max Branning (Jake Wood) to buy the Vic – but now Max is asking for a refund

In Monday’s episode (October 19), Ian (Adam Woodyatt) dodged Max’s latest demand for payment, while admitting to son Peter (Dayle Hudson) that he had borrowed money to pay back his partner

Peter was concerned about what his father had gotten into, sharing with Kathy his concerns that Ian might be plagued by a « loan shark »

His father’s money problems also worried Bobby (Clay Milner Russell), who hides from the family that he is struggling with obsessive-compulsive rituals

Back at the Beale house, Ian panicked when Kathy offered to remortgage the cafe to help her with her financial problems

Although Ian promised it wasn’t necessary because he had « everything in hand », he concealed from his family that he had already re-mortgaged the property behind his mother’s back

Peter still deeply distrusted his father and it didn’t take long for him to dig through his father’s financial records and find the remortgage documents

« First you rip off Max, then you rip off your own mother, » Peter growled when Ian got home

Ian tried to turn the tide on Peter by insisting that it was Kathy who secretly mortgaged the cafe, but now offered to remortgage to help her

It wasn’t until Ian offered to reinstate his son’s allowance that Peter quashed his charges. How long can Ian keep his questionable relationship a secret?
