Sir Geoff Hearst revealed that he is « a little envious » of Harry Kane after claiming that the England captain added another chord to his bow..

World Cup winner Hearst, 78, hat-trick in the 1966 World Cup Final, enjoyed the greatest moment in English football history, but he thinks Kane is also destined to become a legend..

Kane surpassed 50 caps in Belgium on Sunday and is already sixth in England’s scoring charts, but Hearst believes the Tottenham striker has taken his style to a new level..

Hearst says Kane is now as much a playmaker as a scorer, but he also says he’s improved his gameplay on hold making him the complete package.

“I agree that he is now a complete player, he is more than just a goalscorer and striker and we have seen in Tottenham’s recent matches that his participation in making assists is fantastic,” Hearst said..

“What I really liked about his play in the second half in Belgium on Sunday, when we dominated the match, but we were always surrounded, you can play the ball with him in very difficult situations and he rarely lost the ball.

« This was unbelievable especially when you had 21 players on the half of the field, and not much room for the front players..

« But every time he received it, he was able to do something with it, never getting robbed or pushing the ball..

« This was an element of his game in addition to his distribution and also on top of his scoring goals, so he is adding more and more to his game all the time..

« Of course I have to congratulate him for getting his 50th match, which I didn’t quite do because I’m 49 and I’m a little jealous of that. ».

“I wasn’t really in 50th, but he’s a great player and if you can pick Harry Kane in every position, you have a great player in every position, when you can say he’s the best in his position and then I know your best eleven.

Hearst also thinks England have a very promising forward, and despite the promise made in Belgium, they are seriously lacking the pace of Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling.

They have other powerful options like Jack Grealish, Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount, but Stirling and Rashford will make England fraught..

However, Hearst feels injuries will continue to be a problem throughout this season for Gareth Southgate and he is desperate to see other players advance and take on their positions as Kane has done..

Hearst said: “My point of view in recent games is that Gareth has had an impressive group of players in the offensive areas. Sadly Marcus Rashford did not play, Raheem Sterling did not play and in the second half we did not create enough chances..

“It really felt like we needed someone so quickly to hit the ball over the top. Sometimes, as a striker educated in West Ham you have to turn the players, shift the defenders forward and not always play.. The physical aspect is important.

“If we had Rashford who is very effective, and the pound sterling is very effective, that would have been another dimension and it would have made a difference..

“You are talking about Belgium, which is ranked first in the world. It is difficult to play three matches in such a short time and it is difficult because I am sure that the FA is under pressure from the Premier League clubs.. .

“Look at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer complaining about Luke Shaw coming back injured from his last flight, and not having many submarines which also annoys the team and it would be nice if the manager could pick his best squad most of the time.

“Playing together is very important, however the downside of having a lot of players is, having such a large team can sometimes be difficult if you have too many players and you start to wonder: ‘Which team would you choose? Simple problem.
