Former Everton striker Ibrahima Bakayoko expressed his pride in playing for the Blues early in his career

The former Ivory Coast international joined the club on a £ 4 million 5 million deal from Montpellier in 1999 after scoring 25 goals in 76 matches for the French club.

Walter Smith was confident that the 21-year-old could pose an additional goal-scoring threat for his team in the 1999/2000 Premier League season

However, Bakayoko struggled, scoring only four goals in 23 games, before returning to Marseille a year later.

Despite his short time in Goodison Park, Bakayoko enjoyed English football

“It wasn’t difficult at all, as a second step in my career I knew I was aware of a goal I had since childhood,” Bakayoko said to Everton’s official program “My main goal from a young age was to play in England

“I knew that Everton was a great club and about their success in the European Cup Winners Cup they had the best players: Olivier Dacourt, John Collins, [Marco] Materazzi, [Mikael] Madar and I knew the title of toffee

« The atmosphere was great around the club, it was exceptional The fans were great with me and I was very happy to play against these Everton and for the club.

« I can’t say I’d do things differently at Everton. It wasn’t in my hands. I’m happy I went to Everton and gave my all. »

Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope believes Everton keeper Jordan Pickford deserves to maintain his place in the Premier League1st place in upcoming UEFA Nations League matches

Pope is expected to be given a key role in tonight’s friendly match with the Republic of Ireland where Pickford is set to start against Belgium and Iceland

Pickford’s inconsistent form in the early weeks of the 2020/21 Premier League season led to speculation that he could be sidelined from Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up, but competitor Bob offered his support

“I think it’s fair to say it’s number one at the moment,” Bob said in an interview with TalkSPORT if you had looked at the last 25 or 30 games, he would have played 28 of them probably

« So, someone with this kind of record in the national team, I think he deserves to be called number one because he got it. It didn’t happen overnight. It happened over two or three years and he’s constantly playing for England.

« For a goalkeeper, you have to keep working – as any player does – earn your right to be on the team and fight hard to make your way onto the team »

Michael Kane revealed that he was studying videos of Real Madrid icon Sergio Ramos to improve his threat in the penalty area.

The England international has always been in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad so far this season with eight Premier League appearances.

Kane impressed in defense but also proved to be a constant threat of steady attacks with vital goals against Salford City, West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool

He already beat his season goals as a player at Everton during the first two months of the season and Kane believes the Spaniard is the best attacking center back in world football.

“I look at the way he attacks the ball,” Kane said in an interview on the club’s website.

“The main thing is to believe that you will win the head and the score make aggressive rounds, and maybe cheated to go the other way, find yourself in space and survive in the box

“If the ball passes over your head, turn around, react and be ready for any knockouts. This is what happened against West Bromwich Albion [Kane’s second of three goals this season]”
