World News – GB – Latest CEA Solar Panel Supplier Report Shows Trends in Larger Wafers and Increasing Global Manufacturing Capacity

Solar Technical Advisory & Storage Clean Energy Associates (CEA) released its latest PV Vendor Market Information Program report and commentary on the solar industry moving to larger sizes platelets, additional global manufacturing capacity and gallium doping

The latest report, available by subscription, covers vendors who have already adopted 182mm (M10) or 210mm (G12 / M12) inserts, which still take a wait-and-see approach, and rollout plans by Leaders of PV module manufacturing As the industry continues to increase its capacity, the CEA forecast in its previous quarterly report that 180 GW of module capacity would be online by the end of 2020 With the market still feeling the effects of recent disruptions in polysilicon production, the report takes a closer look at the available supply and its implications for 2021

« We expect to see multiple wafer sizes in the market for some time, as suppliers look for new ways to reduce costs, increase value for buyers and differentiate their products. This unprecedented innovation simultaneously brings uncertainty as suppliers embrace the wafer platform, the interconnect platform, and optimize the overall module, ”said Paul Wormser, vice president, Technology of Clean Energy Associates

The companies analyzed in the report are: Astronergy, BYD, Canadian Solar, First Solar, GCL, Hanwha Q CELLS, JA Solar, Jinergy, JinkoSolar, Jolywood, LONGi, Risen, Talesun, Phono Solar and Trina Solar It follows the new developments in the deployment of 600 W modules (with a special section on the risks of dense cell-to-cell interconnection)

The full report, written by the Technology and Quality team at CEA, is available on subscription and includes information gathered from individual interviews with the technical managers of many leading suppliers in the sector A sample of the report can be downloaded for free here
