Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has outlined how he has improved under head coach Stefano Pioli during his loan period at AC Milan.

Portuguese full-back Dalot has been sent to San Siro for a season with his options at United expected to be limited.

And the 21-year-old is enjoying his time with Milan, who are the surprising early pacemakers in Serie A ahead of Inter Milan and Juventus.

Dalot only played 20 minutes in the top Italian league, but was always present in the Europa League, having started and finished all five games in Milan so far in competition.

« Learning the game’s tactics here in Italy is fantastic, » he said in quotes from the Manchester Evening News.

« It’s great to have a coach around the player who is always trying to teach and explain. Our relationship is not just made up of manager-players. That helps me to improve. ”

Dalot spoke ahead of Milan’s win over Celtic on Thursday, which ensured qualification from Group H to the knockout stage.

But he is aiming for the Champions League, with the Rossoneri two points ahead of the top of Serie A before playing against Sampdoria on Sunday night.

« We have a very good philosophy about the day-to-day work in this club, » added Dalot. « We think game by game, then we turn our attention to the next game. This is the right mindset and we can do great things with it this season.

« Milan is a big club. They are known for playing at the highest level of football, the Champions League. That is a goal for us. « .

Dalot, who was brought to United by Jose Mourinho in 2018, said he is coping well with life in Italy, which is similar to his native Portugal.

« It’s been some great months in terms of customization, » said Dalot before Milan beat Celtic on Thursday night.

“I come every day with the desire to train and play. The teammates help me with the language and with adapting to the city.

« I’ve tried to adapt quickly, I’m learning Italian. The players, staff and everyone else in the club helped me a lot. «
