Since traveling the world for sightseeing remains an inconceivable option at the moment, why not board the Orient Express train and time travel instead? The luxury train will arrive in town in December in the form of a pop-up exhibition located at Gardens by the Bay Entitled ‘Once Upon a Time on the Orient Express’, Singapore will be the first country outside France to present the luxury train, after its 2014 exhibition in Paris
The original Orient Express, established in 1883, was a long-distance passenger train synonymous with luxury and opulence.The splendor and sumptuous history of the train fascinated many and therefore served as the plot lines for novels like The Murder of Agatha Christie on the Orient Express and movies like From Russia with Love by James Bond
The exhibit will feature two original train cars from the 1930s – labeled as national treasures of France – as well as a locomotive built over a century ago. Visitors can also expect around 300 artifacts and historical documents such as posters, artwork and even original Louis Vuitton suitcases – all restored and adapted to their former glory Besides the artifacts and interactive exhibits, visitors can also learn about the history of the Orient Express through documentaries and reels
The heyday of the luxury rail experience is further recreated with a replica dining car, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner An Orient Express route cafe will also be operational, to allow visitors to taste coffee blends made famous from locations along the Orient Express route
The exhibit will also feature an escape room experience on board, where you can experience the thrill of the novel and movie-like mystery Murder on the Orient Express Leaving the exhibit, a merchandising area with Branded collectibles and exquisite collectibles will be arranged for you to bring home a souvenir from your trip
