Scunthorpe United have confirmed two other players tested positive for coronavirus just over an hour before their last League Two game

The Irons take on Exeter City in Devon this afternoon, but will be without five other members of their playing team after two unnamed players test positive for Covid-19

The news comes just days after another player tested positive ahead of the Cheltenham clash on Tuesday

Scunthorpe will also be managerless Neil Cox as he continues to self-isolate after coming into contact with assistant Mark Lillis, who has also tested positive

The club have announced that goalkeeper coach Paul Musselwhite will take charge of the squad at Exeter this afternoon, with Under-23 boss Russ Wilcox – who managed the squad at Cheltenham – pending the test results

A club statement said: « Scunthorpe United can confirm that two of our players have tested positive for COVID-19

« The club follow all COVID-19 protocols from Public Health England and the EFL and will not name the players in question We ask that their request for confidentiality and confidentiality be respected at this time

« Due to the close contact with these players, three other team members will also have to isolate themselves

« Under-23 coach Russ Wilcox is awaiting COVID-19 test results, so goaltending coach Paul Musselwhite will take the team to the away game at Exeter City on Saturday
