SHANE RICHIE may be able to welcome him back to Albert Square after the actor admitted that he “loves” returning to EastEnders. I’m a celebrity . . . Get me out of here! The 56-year-old star joined the BBC One series for the first time in 2002 and appeared in three separate spells until his recent exit from EastEnders last year..
While Shane will be shooting « I’m a Celebrity » in the coming weeks, he is open to returning to Walford in the future..
The father of five has discovered a possible comeback story, making 2,000 enemies of tough guy Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) over his outstanding debts.
« It’d be awesome. Love the show, I have a lot of good memories of it.
He continued: « Alfie is still alive – I think he’s still on the run in Spain, and I think he’s still in debt to Phil Mitchell. ».
In January 2019, Alfie persuaded Phil to loan him £ 30,000, before he feuds and flees the UK, leaving the money behind Cat Slater (Jesse Wallace).
The cash amount meant that Kat could pay for her mother Jan Slater (Gillian Wright) to be treated for cancer, while Phil was hurt by the disappearance of two thousand.
Alfie’s on-off relationship with Kat has been at the heart of EastEnders for the best part of two decades, the pair even filmed an episodic series together in 2017, Kat & Alfie: Redwater, which was canceled after one series.
Before his debut in I’m A Celebrity, Shane compared his involvement in the series to the moment he was offered a role for the first time in EastEnders..
Recalling the excitement of appearing on the series in its early stages, he said, “When I was asked to be at EastEnders for the first time in 2002 to play Alfie, I didn’t know what was going to happen..
« There’s just something about adrenaline and fear and that’s what I’m looking forward to when I take on this show.
“You won’t know what to expect because we’re now going North Wales where sitting around a roaring fire will be more important than any other year because it will be cold and dark.

He supports him from home, and has three young children from his second wife Christine Goddard – MacKenzie, 14, Lolita, 12, and Roman Skye, nine – as well as two adult sons from his previous marriage to Lecturer Colin Nolan.
The actor revealed that his young children never enjoyed seeing him play Alfie on EastEnders, which means that his appearance as I’m a Celebrity is a welcome opportunity to make them proud of their father’s onscreen accomplishments..
He said, “Making the kids proud would be great. They were so young at a height of two thousand moons that only saw my dad dressed as a drag queen!
Looking to the future, the Londoner also revealed that his time on I’m A Celebrity could be a welcome opportunity to lose some weight, as he eats a diet of rice and beans with his camp mates.
Each year, contestants are said to consume an average of 600 calories per day, and can only earn more rewards if they successfully win their challenges as a team.
« But I have to go straight back to the West End to play Drag Queen in a dress and so I’m gonna look cool! »
