Notting Hill and Love Actually, 60, was talking about his latest project, the new six-part psychological thriller from Sky Atlantic, Back off.
He told The Graham Norton Show (above): “Having had a career unable to muster a single emotion, I find that I am so old that I cannot stop them.. It’s something about children or love, my wife, or something like that, but I just can’t keep it away.
“I did the job [undo] partly to get away from my little kids because they are so tired of my age.
“I thought it would be nice to have a breather, but every time I got to New York, I missed them so badly, I was in disarray, so every scene was suddenly a teardrop to me.

Grant said of the role: “It’s very difficult to talk about it because there are so many slopes and I don’t want to give up on anything.
“But I can tell I’m not the kind husband of Nicole Kidman that I pretended to be.
He told Norton, “I got it and I was so brave and manly about it! I got it back in the beginning – I actually didn’t know what it was..
“I felt a mild flu and then an alarmingly complete loss of smell, which culminated in putting my head in the garbage cans, smelling and thinking, ‘There must be something here’ and spraying myself on my face with my wife Chanel No. 5 but does not smell it.
