World News – GB – Tyrone players and fans await management’s decision

Supporters of Tyrone GAA eagerly await the latest developments on football’s first managerial role after the boycott committee meeting Tuesday evening

It remains to be seen whether current coach Mickey Hart, the longest-serving coach in inter-district football, will be looking to continue in the position he has held since 2003

Reports indicate that a request for a one-year extension will not be imminent and it is also understood that if continuity is not granted, the county council will accept nominations from clubs before next month’s annual conference for the position of Tyrone manager

It is also understood that a member of the current administrative group left the Tyrone player WhatsApp group last night, which added to the uncertainty about the position

Tyrone players and clubs are waiting for some calls from the county council to clarify their plans

There was a lot of activity behind the scenes in the past days with four management positions worth considering.

These include senior, under-20, and secondary football positions, as well as the senior pitcher position, all of which were renewed for a period of three years in late 2017, ending at the end of the season

But the big football role will get all the attention with one of the most successful coaches in the history of the game who is currently evaluating his future

After Hart reached the end of his three-year term after being reassigned in 2017, he had little to say about his future after his early exit from the tournament against Donegal recently, he said, « I haven’t thought anything about that now. »

Leave this week’s meeting for the provincial council’s management and to consult with the various parties supporting the province pending the next developments.

Harte has been in charge of the Tyrone team since their first victory over All-Ireland in 2003

At that time, he led his teams to six senior Ulster titles and three titles across Ireland that came after a successful spell with underage Tyrone teams

Their last all-Ireland victory came 12 years ago, while their last all-Ireland appearance at Croke Park ended in defeat to Dublin in 2018

With talented attackers such as Matt Donnelly, Kathle McShane, Connor McKenna, Darag Canavan, Darren McCurry and Mark Bradley all available for selection in 2021, there is a desire for some in the county to find out what a new manager with a variation can deliver

However, there are also strong Hart supporters who feel he’s the man to push them forward again

For most of the past 10 years, Hart didn’t always have such attack quality to call, instead he developed a team skilled in counterattacking with runners able to score goals across the field

Relocating Matte Donnelly and Kathle McShane gave the team an extra chance over the past two seasons, but Hart was free from Kathle McShane (injury) for this year’s tournament and his loss was severe to Donegal
