World news – GB – U.S. Open 2020: Tiger Woods has an afternoon tee time on Friday. Here’s how you can watch

Here are the easy steps to take to make sure you don't miss a minute of Tiger Woods (or anyone in the field) competing in the second round of the U.S. Open at Winged Foot

Tiger Woods shot an opening-round 73 at Winged Foot and sits eight shots off the leader.

Tiger Woods looked solid on Thursday during the first round of the U.S. Open … until his last two holes. A bogey/double-bogey finish left him with a three-over 73, eight strokes back of the lead held by one of the tour pros Tiger played along side, Justin Thomas.

Suffice it to say, those three lost strokes on the 17th and 18th holes will make Friday’s second round a bit more stressful as Woods will have a smaller margin for error as he tries to make the 36-hole cut. According to make-cut probability meter compiled by the USGA scoring system, Tiger went from 79.9 percent chance after 16 holes to a 47.3 percent chance after the 18th hole. Of course, that means another intriguing storyline to follow for fans watching at home on Day 2 of the USGA’s signature championship.

Tiger tees off in the second round on Friday afternoon, starting on the 10th tee, paired again with Thomas and Collin Morikawa (who struggled with a six-over 76 in Round 1). Their tee time is 1:27 p.m., a much better scenario for West Coast viewers compared to the 8:07 a.m. Eastern tee time Tiger had on Thursday.

Once again, the good news is that finding Tiger’s opening tee shot on your TV shouldn’t be a big issue. With NBCUniversal taking over broadcast coverage of the USGA’s signature event, most of the nearly 45 hours of live golf will be shown on Golf Channel and NBC, two stations we’re guessing you already know where to find on your cable box.

So Tiger’s round will start on Golf Channel, but about half way through you’re going to need to grab the clicker and switch to your NBC affiliate. Simple, right? Actually it really should be. We know you’ve got this.

Meanwhile, we’ve listed all the tee times for Friday below, just in case you can use them.

And before that, we want to help with one other thing. Peacock? What is Peacock you ask?

Well, it’s NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, thus it won’t be something you’ll find it on your cable guide. You can go to peacocktv.com to sign up for the service (the basic package, including the U.S. Open coverage, is free) as well as access the Peacock app on Apple TV (it’s not yet available on Roku or Amazon Fire).

Justin Thomas played a practice round with Woods ahead of their pairing during the first and second rounds.

So you’re excited to watch Tiger Woods play his first round at the U.S. Open? Join the crowd. But to do it, we’re going to warn you: It’s best to make sure you’ve got the coffee-maker programmed in advance.

Woods tees off early on Thursday at Winged Foot, playing with Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa as part of the 8:07 a.m. group off the first tee. For those not living on the East Coast, that means an alarm clock or a rooster will probably be in order.

Assuming Tiger’s round takes around 5 hours and 15 minutes, you probably won’t even need to change channels to see all 18 holes. It really couldn’t be much easier now could it.

What though if you’re not in front of a TV? Well, on a computer, you can stream the entire broadcast at USOpen.com. And if you’re away from your TV and your computer, you can watch on a mobile device by downloading the U.S. Open app and watching the streaming coverage there.

While we’ve got you here, we might as well help you out on how to watch Tiger’s second round, too. On Friday, provided there are no scheduling issues, Tiger tees off on the 10th tee with Thomas and Morikawa at 1:27 p.m. (feel free to sleep in).

Once again, set the TV for Golf Channel and you’re good to go at the start before needing to switch to NBC at some point during Tiger’s back nine.

OK, you should be all set. Below, however, are all the tee times for Thursday, just in case you can use them.
