Judd Trump celebrated a 4-3 win over Stuart Bingham in the World Grand Prix of the last 16 before revealing that he feels his reign as the number one snooker world is undervalued.

After scoring a record six ranked events last season, Trump has built on his position as the sport’s most consistent player by winning the English Open and Northern Ireland Open so far this season.

He has also made it to the British Championship final, where he was only two balls from victory in an excruciating 9-10 loss to Neil Robertson.

Trump made the semifinals of the European Masters and Champion of Champions before reaching the final eight of the Scottish Open last week. He also lost the Championship League final 3-1 to Kyren Wilson in amazing consistency.

« I don’t know anyone who’s ever had a season opener like me and isn’t really mentioned much, » said Trump. « If it were someone else, it would be a lot better known.

« To me, I’m very proud of the way I started the season and a lot of the top players who are likely not in the top 4 would take the season I already had.

« It’s been an incredible season so far and I’m just trying to live up to the standards I’ve set over the years. Right now I’m doing this. «

Trump will be 100 in the quarterfinals on Thursday night. Play competitive game of the year against Martin Gould.

Trump was beaten 6-3 by Gould in the European Masters semifinals – and believes Gould is as good as the green bait gets when he’s in the mood.

« He’s an excellent player when he’s at his best and for me he’s the most aggressive player there is in snooker, » said the 2019 World Champion.

Trump won the last three frames 3-1 against Bingham, who was increased by 101 after an opening strike of 88 and an end of 61, with his opponent contributing 57, 88 and 132 in a high quality tournament.

Ronnie O’Sullivan was a 4-1 winner against Barry Hawkins when he hit a quarter-finals Thursday night with Kyren Wilson, whom he defeated 18-8 to claim his sixth world title in August.

Despite races 108, 58, 57, and 51, O’Sullivan didn’t think his match with Hawkins was of the highest quality.
