Ambulance personnel faced an hour-long hike from the Barron Gorge parking lot to the scene after being dropped off at around 11:16 a.m.

« With heavy rainfall comes significant increases in streams and creeks, » said James Newman, executive director of QPWS Northern Parks and Forests
« Conditions for creeks and creeks can change rapidly, with fast flowing and rapidly rising water causing strong currents. During these times, it’s important that people stay safe and not get into the water. »
« QPWS will assist the Queensland Police in their investigation if they prepare a report for the coroner, » the spokeswoman said.
