Lee Holdsworth says the end of his full-time Supercars career after 15 years was a « shock » as his Tickford Racing roster slipped to three entries for 2021.
The 37-year-old, three-time Race winner, joined Tickford in 2019 to replace Mark Winterbottom.
His two-year stint earned three podiums and a provisional pole for the Bathurst 1000 last year, but missed a seat for the 2021 season after the team failed was to get a fourth contract for racing authorizations to replace the boss Phil Munday – whose entry has been operated by Tickford since 2019 – at Brad Jones Racing, which was sold by the former 23Red.

That means there will only be three full-time Tickford cars this season who will be driven by Jack Le Brocq, Cam Waters and James Courtney.

Holdsworth hit social media on the news, calling the sudden end of his full-time career a » shock « . He also signaled his intention to get a top co-driver role for Bathurst 1000.
« It’s a shock and it feels premature, but that’s how it’s played.

« I haven’t won the Bathurst 1000 yet, but you can bet I’ll be back with the best chance this year!

Holdsworth made his full-time Supercars debut at Garry Rogers Motorsport in 2006 and took a maiden race win at Oran Park the following season.
He added another in 2010 Added victory for GRM at Homebush (above) before joining Stone Brothers Racing for the 2012 season.
However, that was only a year before the team was sold and Erebus Motorsport became, initially with its Mercedes hardware had to fight.
In Winton 2014 there was a victory in a difficult form before he teamed up with Charlie Schwerkolt in Team 18.
That too did not provide regular results for the front run. Tickford eventually threw a lifeline to Holdsworth when Winterbottom departed in late 2018.
