World news – Hourman film a work by Warner Bros. and DC Films

Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films are in the process of developing a brand new superhero film adaptation of DC Comics character Hourman.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films are currently in the process of developing a brand new superhero adaptation of DC Comics character Hourman. Chernin Entertainment is involved in the project as producers with the writing duo Gavin James and Neil Widener. If the project progresses successfully, it will mark the hero’s live-action DCEU debut.

The character made his first live-action appearance on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow series, previously starring Patrick J. Adams was portrayed. Hourman is currently portrayed by Lou Ferrigno Jr. and Cameron Gellman in The CW’s hit Arrowverse series Stargirl, which is expected to return for season two this year.

Originally by Ken Fitch and Bernard Bailey in 1940 during Created in the Golden Age of Comics, the original iteration of Hourman was Rex Tyler, a chemist who developed a new synthesis called « Miraclo » that gives him superpower and stamina for just an hour. He is also best known as a regular member of the Justice Society of America. Later, his son Rick Tyler, who was created by Roy Thomas, Dann Thomas, and Todd McFarlane, took over the Hourman’s coat during the comic book story of Crisis on Infinite Earths.

The character has been featured in a number of over the years Cartoons and films converted, including « Justice League Unlimited », « Batman: The Brave and the Bold », « Justice League: The New Frontier » and the upcoming film « Justice Society: World War II ».

Before the two Versions of Hourman debuted on The CW, the network previously attempted to develop a live-action series centered around Rex Tyler. However, no updates were made after the announcement and it is still unclear why the project was broken up.

This project also marks James and Widener’s recent collaboration with Warner Bros. as they are currently also the live action -Write a film adaptation of The Hot Wheels and the sequel to New Line Cinema in San Andreas.
