After her final rehab visit, Mama June could be before the fifth season of Mama June: Road to Redemption struggling with sobriety
With her arrest for drug possession, a rehab trip, and a pending trial prior to the season five premiere, Mama June continues her battle against addiction.
Before her arrest On March 13, 2019, Mama June’s struggle against drug addiction, especially crack cocaine, was well documented.
Mama June admits they spent nearly a million dollars on drugs in one year alone.
In an episode of Mama June: Family Crisis, Mama June admitted spending an estimated $ 2,500 a day on meth.
When Mama June sought help with her boyfriend Doak and checked into a drug addiction rehab facility in Florida, she left her eldest daughter Pumpkin to take care of her youngest sibling Honey Boo Boo.
The situation has further strained her marriage to Josh Efird, with whom the two have a daughter: Ella.
Due to the shopping spree, the couple was also completely broke. Mama June told Access Hollywood, « I went into rehab with $ 1.75 in my name and got nothing out. »
That financial burden was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic that caused the filming of the new season postponed.
Mama June recently celebrated her one year sobriety anniversary with Doak, but not everyone in the family is so sure how long it will be.
In May 2020, family therapist Dr. Ish Major, exclusive to The Sun: « Relapse is part of recovery. I suspect there will be … Relapse happens, it comes. We know that. »
The upcoming season, tonight, on Premiere March 19, 2021, Mama will record June’s current battle against sobriety and mend the rifts in her family.
