This is Sportstars Match-Blog / Highlights of the ISL 2020-21 match between Odisha FC and Kerala Blasters FC that took place on Thursday at Fatorda Stadium.

That’s all we for have the night. We’ll be back for East Bengal against Hyderabad FC tomorrow. Until then it’s a good night!

OFC head coach Gerry Peyton: I think my team was very motivated from the start. We knew Kerala Blasters were going to come hard on us. We had a plan not to let it run through us and to do it perfectly. Our backline was very compact. I was very impressed with Brad Inman’s performance. He has connected well with Diego Mauricio up front. We could have won the game in the end. Brad and Jacob Tratt had great opportunities to seal the deal. I’m disappointed these didn’t go in. Kerala is a talented team with top players. It had opportunities and it missed it. I’m happy with the performance of my players because they did exactly what I wanted.

KBFC striker Jordan Murray: Today was extremely disappointing. We have an outside chance of reaching the playoffs, but it’s very small. Hopefully we can take nine points from the remaining three games. I thought in the first half we controlled most of the game. We wanted to come back with the same intensity in the second half and put pressure on Odisha. We missed opportunities and they achieved the two necessary goals. We should have been more clinical in the first place. From here the point is to play for pride and get as many points as possible. I just want to keep improving my game and also help others on my team keep improving every day.

Jordan Murray and Gary Hooper each score a goal as KBFC advances to ninth place in the 2020-21 ISL standings with 16 points over SC East Bengal. In the meantime, OFC is still at the bottom of the table with nine points.

Kerala Blasters FC’s waste continued as they only managed to score two goals after 29 shots. Diego Mauricio scored the first and last goal of the game and gave Odisha FC a valuable point.

90 2 ‘SUBSTITUTION! One last throw of the dice from Kerala Blaster’s FC manager Kibu Vicuna. He brings Jessel Carneiro to replace Yondrembem Denechandra in the middle. Vicuna is not satisfied with the injury time given here.

90 ‘Three minutes of added time at the end of the second half! Arshdeep Singh scored a brilliant save on the other end for Odisha FC. He reacts well to Juan’s shot from outside the box and pushes the ball out of the danger zone.

88 ‘What a rescue! This is without a doubt Odisha FC’s best chance. Cole Alexander played a brilliant long pass against substitute Laishram Singh, who cut Bradden Inman back at close range and tee off. But Albino Gomes popped to his right and denied the OFC attacker.

85 ‘CHANCE FOR OFC! Bradden Inman takes the ball forward on the left. He dodged an opposing defender and sent a cross towards the far post. Diego Mauricio misses the ball with a whisker as KBFC regains possession.

82 ‘SHOT! Sahal Abdul Samad will have another chance to score tonight. He lets you fly off the edge of the box. At least he should have hit the target here. That sums up the Kerala Blasters tournament pretty well.

79 ‘SPARE PARTS FROM EVERY SIDE! Laishram Singh and Shubham Sarangi replace Jerry Mawihmingthanga and Hendry Antonay on the field for Odisha FC, while Prasanth Karuthadathkuni replaces Rahul KP for Kerala Blasters FC.

74 ‘GOOOOAAAAALLLL !!!!!!!!! MAURICIO REACHES AGAIN !!! ODISHA FC 2 – 2 KERALA BLASTERS FC !!!!!! Vinit Rai has the ball on the right flank and sends a pass to Bradden Inman, who in turn finds Diego Mauricio at the far post. The Brazilian striker performs a simple tap-in to hit the KBFC shot stopper Albino Gomes.

70 ‘ANOTHER CHANCE FOR KBFC! Once again, Sahal Abdul Samad tries to field Gary Hooper in the box. But this time the last shot goes out for a goal kick.

68 ‘GOOOOAAAALLLLLL !!!!!!!!!! GARY HOOPER SCORES !!!!!!!!!! KERALA BLASTERS FC 2 – 1 ODISHA FC !!!!! Vicente Gomez plays a long ball from midfield. Sahal Abdul Samad receives it and helps Gary Hooper at close range. Hooper takes a good first touch and smashes the ball past custodian Arshdeep Singh into the far post.

66 ‘CROSS! Mohd Sajid Dhot sends a cross from the right wing to his team-mate Diego Mauricio of Odisha FC. But Kerala goalkeeper Albino Gomes comes off his line to collect the ball.

63 ‘SHOT! Rahul KP gets the ball on the right flank. He approaches the goal and shoots from a narrow angle. The ball misses the target a lot.

61 ‘OFC CHANCE! The defense of the Kerala Blasters has shut down here for a moment. Diego Mauricio received the ball on the edge of the box, but his attempted cross into the box was blocked by Costa Nhamoinesu.

58 ‘Kerala Blasters FC once again have the advantage in possession. Odisha FC just sit back to defend themselves. KBFC manager Kibu Vicuna looks animated on the sidelines.

55 ‘SUBSTITUTION! It’s the game’s first change and Odisha FC manager Gerry Peyton makes it. He brings Daniel Lalhlimpuia to replace Rakesh Pradhan in the middle.

52 ‘GOOOOAAAAAALLLL !!!!!!! JORDAN MURRAY SCORESSSSSSSS !!! KERALA BLASTERS FC 1 – 1 ODISHA FC !!!!! Odisha FC lost the ball near the penalty area. Gary Hooper did it. He trickled past a charging Arshdeep Singh and sent a low cross into the box. Mohd Sajid Dhot, who was closest to the ball, didn’t see Murray coming from behind. Murray got the ball first and put it home.

48 ‘EARLY CHANCE FOR KBFC! There’s a throw-in on the right. Rahul KP receives the ball and sends a cross into the box. Jordan Murray misses the ball and it hits Sahal Abdul Samad, who misses the target with his shot.

Kerala Blasters FC were clearly the better side in the first half. Thanks to a good move by Jerry Mawihmingthanga and Diego Mauricio, who has scored eight goals in the tournament so far, Odisha FC are now 1-0 up.

45 2 ‘At the end of the first half, two minutes of added time were added! Kerala is now attacking forward with numbers. But don’t think that the team will have enough time to equalize before the break.

45 ‘GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL !!!!!!!! DIEGO MAURICIO SCORES !!!!! ODISHA FC 1 – 0 KERALA BLASTERS FC !!! This is a brilliant counterattack against gameplay. The Kerala Blasters defense was caught napping here. Jerry Mawihmingthanga first carried out a double victory with Mauricio. He then threw a ball to the Brazilian striker in the penalty area. Mauricio made no mistake with his goal when Odisha took the lead.

42 ‘CORNER FOR KBFC! Sahal Abdul Samad will take this one. Jordan Murray gets his box delivery at the nearby post. Murray’s header is cleared by Rakesh Pradhan’s shot on goal.

39 ‘CROSS! Rahul KP makes a rapid run on the right wing. He dribbles past Hendry Antonay in style and sends a low cross towards Gary Hooper. But Jacob Tratt intercepts the ball and kicks it away.

36 ‘CORNER FOR OFC! Bradden Inman will take on the set piece for Odisha FC. He sends a cross in the box. But Kerala’s goalkeeper Albino Gomes is fouled when the Blasters regain possession.

34 ‘ANOTHER MISTAKE FROM THE OFC! This time around, Jordan Murray has a chance to find the back of the web. But again, his shot goes far from the target. KBFC is missing chance after chance.

30 ‘WHAT A CHANCE FOR KBFC! Steven Taylor loses the ball cheaply. Sahal Abdul Samad arrives and sets up Gary Hooper at close range. But the Kerala striker hits the ball wide.

27 ‘YELLOW CARD! This is the first booking of the game. Kerala Blasters FC defender Sandeep Singh is punished by the referee for a silly tackle against Odisha FC’s Rakesh Pradhan who goes down. The OFC physiotherapist rushes onto the field to treat his player.

24 ‘Despite all the dominance of attack and passing statistics, Kerala Blasters FC haven’t scored a single time tonight. That was the story of Kibu Vicuna’s team that season. It missed the chance and paid a high price for it.

21 ‘Free kick for OFC! Jerry Mawihmingthanga is fouled by Yondrembem Denechandra. The referee awards a free kick to Odisha. Rakesh Pradhan will take it. His delivery is bad when the ball goes over the goal post.

18 ‘CLOSE! Sahal Abdul Samad evades a few duels and reaches the last third. But his shot from the edge of the box is blocked by Odisha skipper Steven Taylor.

15 ‘Odisha FC clearly have problems here. So far there has been no real attack move by the team. The OFC players are currently being expropriated far too often.

12 ‘ANOTHER KBFC CHANCE! Sandeep Singh and Rahul KP carry out a good double victory. Sandeep sprints with the ball towards the corner flag. After a short fight with OFC full-back Hendry Antonay, he lets the ball out for a goal kick.

9 ‘SHOT! Jordan Murray receives a good pass from midfield. He dribbles past an opposing player and approaches the penalty area. However, his last shot goes well over the bar.

6 ‘CROSS! Hooper moves forward again with the ball. He tries to send in a cross from the right flank, but Odisha’s center-back duo come to the rescue of his team and clear the ball.

3 ‘Good start for the Kerala Blasters here. Gary Hooper and Jordan Murray already complement each other well. Odisha FC’s backline has to be absolutely careful.

The seventh edition of the Indian Super League began on November 20th in a bio-bubble in Goa.

During the four-month tournament, eleven teams will play against each other in a league and playoff format at three venues. After the inclusion of SC East Bengal 115 games will be played this season, up from 95 last season.

Twice in the last two games the men of the Kerala Blasters have been at the top and twice they have lost. Blasters desperately hope that their fate will be reversed when they face Odisha FC in a battle between the basement residents of the Indian Super League at Fatorda Stadium in Margao on Thursday.

Odisha is eight points at the bottom of the 11-man league and has little hope of the playoffs. Mathematically, it’s not all over for Blasters with 15 points, but they can’t afford another defeat. And it will certainly not want a repeat of the result when the two teams met for the first time this season.

Odisha had won 4-2 at a goal festival a month ago. That remains the only win of the season for Odisha, however, who has played six games since then.

Kerala has obviously fared much better and recorded three wins, but his inability to finish the job after a good start should coach Kibu Vicuna Give cause for concern. « Our goal is to score 12 points (from our remaining four games) but we will do it step by step, » he said.

« Tomorrow is an opportunity to collect points and get closer to the teams have a better chance of qualifying for the playoffs. «

His counterpart Gerald Peyton admitted that Kerala are a strong team. « I think they have some good players, » he said.

« Tactically, we know how they play and we will bring them together in every area. They play a 4-4-2 and we will play the same way. We’re going to make it hard for them and I think we can do double that on them. «
