This is Sportstars Match-Blog / Highlights of the ISL 2020-21 game between SC East Bengal and Kerala Blasters FC in Goa on Friday.

SCEB Manager Robbie Fowler: It was a nice one Feeling equalized so late in the game. But we weren’t up to date. The goal we admitted was a stupid one. I don’t know if it was offside. However, it’s great to be unbeaten and we need more wins now. Harmanpreet Singh played well. He was unlucky not to score a goal. I even think Aaron (Amadi-Holloway) had a great chance to equalize in the end. But he hit it far. I’m glad we got a point tonight. We want to play free flowing soccer with quick touch. We have a lot of catching up to do if we want to make it to the playoffs. We have to minimize our mistakes and play particularly aggressively.

KBFC head coach Kibu Vicuna: It was similar to the other game against SC East Bengal this season. Back then we also admitted late. The set piece that was given away at the end was bad. We’d better respond and defend it. You (SCEB) didn’t have many chances. Unfortunately we lost two points. We try to improve the results. We mostly played behind this tournament. So this time we tried to create more chances than our opponents and we succeeded. We started the game with long balls and the team was much more comfortable. All players tried to be positive and to dominate possession. It’s sad we couldn’t win.

Kerala Blasters FC have just thrown away two points and towards the end some of them defended poorly. Scott Neville finally opened his account for SC East Bengal in the second half to give his team a lifeline.

90 4 ‘GOAAAAALLLLLLL !!!!! SCOTT NEVILLE REACHES THE EQUALIZER !!! EAST BENGAL 1 – 1 KERALA BLASTERS !!!! Bright Enobakhare took a corner for SCEB in the last minute of the game and the KBFC defense were extremely poor at tackling it. Scott Neville easily passed a few players and headed the ball past Albino Gomes to secure a point for his team.

90 ‘Five minutes of added time at the end of the second half! Lalthathanga Khawlhring now has a free kick for KBFC. He sends the ball towards Rohit Kumar, who shoots it far from the post.

87 ‘What a chance! SC East Bengal should have equalized here. Ajay Chhetri scored a free kick for SCEB. His cross in the box goes in the direction of the unmarked Aaron Amadi-Holloway. However, the attacker from East Bengal decides to shoot more with his foot than his head and misses the target.

84 ‘TRIPLE SCEB SUBSTITUTION! Mohammed Rafique, Aaron Amadi-Holloway and Surchandra Singh come for Harmanpreet Singh, Daniel Fox and Ankit Mukherjee. This could be the final roll of the dice for head coach Robbie Fowler.

81 ‘KERALA CHANGE! Defensive midfielder Rohit Kumar replaces Kerala Blasters FC striker Sahal Abdul Samad in the middle. Manager Kibu Vicuna has become ultra-defensive here.

78 ‘CHANCE! Bright Enobakhare receives the ball just outside the penalty area. He tries to hit the ball in the direction of a teammate, but KBFC central defender Sandeep Singh heads the ball safely.

73 ‘Throw for KBFC! Sahal Abdul Samad receives a long ball from the other half. He tries to control it on the left. But SCEB defender Scott Neville touches down in time to clear the ball away.

70 ‘SCEB CHANGE! Matti Steinmann makes way for Anthony Pilkington on the field. Twenty minutes more, and now or never for SC East Bengal.

67 ‘REPLACEMENT! The Spaniard Juande can finally play for Kerala Blasters FC. He comes in for KBFC captain Jessel Carneiro in the middle.

64 ‘GOOOOOAAAAALLLLL !!! JORDAN MURRAY SCORES !!!!! KERALA BLASTERS 1 – 0 EAST BENGAL !!!! This was a direct pass from KBFC keeper Abbino Gomes to his striker. Murray defeated the SCEB center-back trio with a short sprint and took the ball forward. Despite Rana Gharami’s tackle from behind, Murray is able to find the back of the net with a neat finish.

62 ‘CHANGE! Kerala Blaster’s head coach Kibu Vicuna decides to bring Lalthathanga Khawlhring onto the field as the successor to Facundo Pereyra.

60 ‘CROSS! Vicente Gomez passes the ball to Jessel Carneiro on the left wing. The KBFC skipper moves the ball forward with speed. But his cross into the box is collected directly by SCEB keeper Debjit Majumder.

57 ‘SC East Bengal have dominated possession so far. Kerala Blasters FC have the better chances in the last third. No goals to show yet.

54 ‘VERY CLOSE! Gary Hooper should have made it 1-0 for Kerala Blasters. He received the ball from a throw-in from Jessel Carneiro and had a shot from just outside the box, but it was missed by a whisker. There was no one tagging Hooper and they should have done better.

51 ‘CHANCE! This is a good chance for East Bengal. Jacques Maghoma gets the ball in midfield, runs forward, dribbles past an opposing player and steps into the penalty area. But the angle was very tight when his shot goes out of play.

48 ‘SCEB CHANGE! Robbie Fowler, manager of SC East Bengal, makes a change immediately. He brings in Ajay Chhetri to replace Milan Singh in the middle.

Both SC East Bengal (SCEB) and Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC) have not been able to overcome the impasse, although they had several scoring chances.

45 ‘Two minutes of added time at the end of first half! Kerala wins a corner and Pereyra takes it as usual. Costa Nhamoinesu hits the ball but his header is blocked in the penalty area by a defender from East Bengal.

42 ‘CLOSE! Scott Neville has a good run on the right. With his strength he passes a KBFC player. But his last pass to his team mate Jacques Maghoma is bad.

39 ‘CHANCE FOR SCEB! Bright Enobakhare takes the ball forward. He dodges some opposing players and approaches the penalty area. However, Nishu Kumar uses a brilliant gliding device to clear the ball.

36 ‘Free kick for KBFC! Sahal Abdul Samad will take it. He makes a short pass. Facundo Pereyra receives the ball in front of the penalty area and tries it at goal. But his shot goes way over the bar.

34 ‘YELLOW CARD! This is the first for a SCEB player in the game. Milan Singh brings down Jordan Murray and is immediately booked by the referee.

29 ‘INJURY! Sandeep Singh (Kerala) and Milan Singh (East Bengal) jump high and try to win the ball. But they collide with each other. Sandeep is still on the ground receiving treatment. Fortunately for the Blasters, he can go on.

26 ‘WATCH! SCEB striker Bright Enobakhare is accelerating forward. He is fouled from behind, but continues to move towards the goal. The referee plays the advantage and Bright lets you fly from a distance. But he misses the target a lot.

23 ‘Free kick for KBFC! Facundo Pereyra will take over the standard situation. His cross in the penalty area is cleared by the SCEB defense. But the ricochet falls on Nishu Kumar, who shoots a shot from outside the box. The ball goes out of play and East Bengal wins the ball back.

20 ‘The scenario of the game has changed. SC East Bengal has dominated the passing and attacking statistics in the last 10 minutes, with some dangerous steps forward.

18 ‘CHANCE! KBFC’s Facundo Pereyra crosses the ball in a corner where Gary Hooper comes in. He heads the ball across from the far post. Vicente Gomez’s last header goes out of play.

15 ‘BLOCK! This was another chance for East Bengal. Ankit Mukherjee makes a good move on the right. Bright Enobakhare is at the end of the cross in the middle. But Costa Nhamoinesu makes a brilliant block for the Blasters.

12 ‘SAVE WELL! First real chance for SCEB tonight. KBFC goalkeeper Albino Gomes denies East Bengal striker Harmanpreet Singh with a good jump to the left.

9 ‘Kerala Blasters FC push up here. SC East Bengal’s defense is already panicking. Jordan Murray continues his good form from the last game against Jamshedpur FC.

6 ‘What a device! Kerala striker Sahal Abdul Samad stepped into the box and shot. But Gharami from East Bengal used a brilliant gliding device to avert danger for his team.

The seventh edition of the Indian Super League began on November 20th in a bio-bubble in Goa.

During the four-month tournament, eleven teams will play in a league and playoff format three venues against each other. After the inclusion of SC East Bengal, 115 games will be played this season, up from 95 last season.

A win can work wonders. After beating the highly rated Jamshedpur FC in their final game four days ago, Kerala Blasters will be confident against SC East Bengal in the Indian Super League on Friday at Tilak Maidan.

Head coach Kibu Vicuna opted for two strikers against Jamshedpur, and the change clicked with a confident attack. So, will Vicuna continue with that?

« Every game is different, every team we are going to play is different with a different structure and shape. We look at the players we have, the team we have and the structure in which we are safer and try to bring the best possible team onto the field, ”said the Spaniard.

That the last time Blasters played against East Bengal on December 20th, the two finished 1-1. Now that the two are at the bottom of the table with 11 teams (EB 9, Blasters 10), they will be desperate for a win . East Bengal also had a win over Bengaluru FC in their previous game, so the game has become a tight competition.

Vicuna was not his usual self against Jamshedpur. He looked livelier than ever and there might be a reason for it. It could all be about mind games.

« I think some days you’re more excited, more in, it also depends on what the other bank is like, » he said.

« When the other bank speaks too much, one has to balance the strength in the benches. It is very important to be aggressive on the field. We not only play on the field, but also off the field. But it is important that the team performs well and not what we do in the bank. It was good that we won the match. «
