This is Sportstars ISL 2020-21 live blog about the duel between Chennaiyin FC and Mumbai City FC at the GMC stadium in Bambolim.

77 ‘This is very poor from Jahouh. He’s almost a little overconfident when he tries to film Sylvestr in the box and ends up giving away a cheap punishment.

76 ‘ISMA EQUALISES FOR CHENNAIYIN! The Bissau-Guinean striker drills it into the net to bring Chennaiyin back into play.

74 ‘Mumbai City FC’s new signing Jackichand Singh warms up on the sidelines. Jackichand was successful under Sergio Lobera, scoring nine goals and making seven assists in his two seasons at FC Goa. He has three templates for his name this season out of the 12 games he played for Jamshedpur.

72 ‘Not too far from Boumous. The French dodges the last third and shoots a powerful punch that zooms over the bar.

71 ‘Thoi! Chhangte’s corner finds Thoi in the middle of the penalty area, but the midfielder can’t find the target.

70 ‘Amrinder spills it! Reagan’s long free kick slips out of Amrinder’s gloves and goes for a corner.

68 ‘Isma and Sylvestr have problems today. The Slovak has the ball with him and sees Isma clearly at the goal, but decides against the pass. Isma is angry, but there is little he can do.

66 ‘Amey almost rolls her left foot! The right defender is only inches from his first ISL goal as his breathtaking hit misses the target with a whisker.

64 ‘This is a bad attempt by the substitute. He goes to power and his shot is nowhere near the target. Another chance Chennaiyin missed.

63 ‘Good opportunity for Chennaiyin. Ogbeche brings Isma right to the edge of the box and Edwin seems ready to take the free kick.

62 ‘So close! Hernan runs into the box and nods to Bipin over the gate, but there’s no one to push it home.

59 ‘A good header from Ogbeche. Chhangte takes the free kick from the top of the box and swims it at the far post for Memo, but Ogbeche stands in the way to steer it to the corner.

57 ‘That could have been dangerous. Raynier is in space and can release Bipin in the middle but plays it to Ogbeche instead. The Nigerian decides to try to score, but his shot doesn’t get past the defense.

53 ‘Ouch, that looks painful. Raynier chops down Jerry and the young defender lands awkwardly on the ball.

51 ‘Thoi breaks past the goal, but Amey is very good at backtracking and stopping the run.

50′ Set play threat for Chennaiyin . Jerry Fouls Raynier on the right and Jahouh will take the free kick.

48 ‘Similar to the first half, Chennaiyin created chances right after kick-off, but the last ball is missing.

Mumbai City FC go into the break with a narrow 1-0 lead over Chennaiyin FC. The islanders saw the first few minutes as Chennaiyin built up the pressure and went through Ogbeche’s header in the 21st minute.

The goal spurred Lobera’s side as it dominated the action and effortlessly found several acres in front of it. Chennaiyin was forced onto its hindfoot, but Thoi and Chhangte managed to create a couple of promising opportunities.

45 2 ‘Late chance for Chennaiyin! Chhangte is knocked down by Jahouh and the designated home team has a free kick.

42 ‘Free kick to Chennaiyin. With Rowllin’s high shoe, the Marina Machans win a free kick, but nothing comes out.

40 ‘A dangerous ball from Thoi. Corner to Chennaiyin. Thoi was excellent today, with an excellent right-hand seat and a superior work rate.

37 ‘Mumbai City have taken control of this game since the start of the game. The midfielders find enough space in front of them, while the defense quickly thwarts Chennaiyin’s chances.

35 ‘Isma is clearly unhappy. He was put off by the challenge by Hernan a few minutes ago and is now messing up Case while battling for a header. He expresses his displeasure with the referee, but the decision remains.

33 ‘Luck for Amrinder. He just manages to clear his lines when Sylvestr almost got the ball from him.

30 ‘Shouted water pause. Mumbai City lead 1-0 in the 21st minute thanks to Ogbeche’s header.

28 ‘A shot by Hernan (Isma). Referee says play on.

26 ‘Chance for a free kick missed. Reagan throws a free kick into the penalty area, but the whistle blows as Sabia spots a defender and tries to take the header.

23 ‘Sylvestr shoots at goal. He doesn’t use the options or pull the trigger and the chance misses.

21 ‘OGBECHE BUSTS THE NET WITH A BALL HEAD! Bipin plays a teasing cross from the left and Ogbeche jumps past his marker to score his fifth goal of the season. Another support for Bipin!

18 ‘Bold attempt from Vignesh. The left full-back sees Kaith from his line and fires a loop blow that lands on top of the net. The youngster has already scored one of the goals of the season when he scored the great first touch volley against Hyderabad.

16 ‘Excellent fluidity for Chennaiyin! Isma plays it for Thoi on the right with an acre space in front of her. However, his cross is not precise enough and touches a defender. Chennaiyin finds plenty of room in the last third.

13 ‘One goal for Chennaiyin. Chhangte bombs the left and tries a flank. Amay stands in the way to distract her to the corner.

12 ‘Sabiaaaaaaa..off aim! Chhangte’s outswinging corner is hit by Sabia but the Chennaiyin captain’s header can’t bother the goalkeeper.

11 ‘Sipovic has received his fourth yellow card of the season and will miss Chennaiyin’s game against Hyderabad FC on Sunday.

10 ‘Booking! Sipovic brings Jahouh down on the edge of the box and receives a yellow card. The ref waves on Rowlinn force a save from Kaith.

6 ‘Chance for Raynier! Vignesh plays a delightful shot across the box and Raynier has a chance … but can’t find the target. Thoi was caught taking a nap when Raynier sneaked right past him.

4 ‘Shot by Isma. The Bissau Guinean fires a low drive, but a distraction takes the sting off and Amrinder has a fairly simple rescue.

2 ‘Parries away! Chhangte has a crack on the gate from the edge of the box and Amrinder pushes it away. Good start for Chennaiyin here … Isma lets Thoi go and the winger floats a cross into the box. The clearance from Fall is weak and Chhangte gets a shot on goal.

The seventh edition of the Indian Super League kicked off on November 20th in a bio-bubble in Goa.

During the four-month tournament, eleven teams will play in a league and playoff format against each other at three venues. Following the inclusion of SC East Bengal, 115 games will be played this season, up from 95 last season.

In a video posted on Chennaiyin FC’s Youtube channel, head coach Csaba Laszlo is attempting a deflated unit to inspire who have had a tough time in the Indian Super League (ISL). “You can do better … I speak to you because I know that everyone can do better in their own position. Everyone, every single person, ”said the Romanian.

The task is not getting any easier for Chennaiyin. After a demoralizing loss to ATK Mohun Bagan, leaders Mumbai City FC will face leaders Mumbai City FC on Monday at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim.

While Chennaiyin have not been able to win in a row this season, Mumbai City are unbeaten in eleven games – a joint ISL Record next to the winning team from Bengaluru FC (2018-19) – with nine wins.

It will be a battle of the league’s top scorers, Mumbai City (18 goals), against the lowest scorers, Chennaiyin (10 ).

Laszlo, who had set up his team to play Bagan on the counter, said he would change his tactics if his team takes on Mumbai City.

« In this game against Mumbai will be very different, « said Laszlo. “We have to open the game and we want to score goals. Even if it is Mumbai City, one of the most dangerous teams in the ISL, we have to try to win the game. I’m sure we will get opportunities and there will be ways to take advantage of them, but the instinct to be hungry will be key tomorrow. “

Central midfielder Anirudh Thapa, who missed the last game due to an injury, will have to face a late fitness test on match day.

Of the two goals conceded by Mumbai City in the open game, one scored in the second leg on Chennaiyin. Sergio Lobera’s side returned from a goal and won 2-1 despite not being at their best. Qualifying for next season’s AFC Champions League remains a big goal for Lobera and he doesn’t want his team to be out in the second half of the season.

« We’re leaders in the league, but this situation in this league in particular can get in seven days change everything. Sometimes you have three games in ten days and nine points are a lot of points. So far the situation is good, but we want the best situation at the end of the season.

« I have to get out of the situation to FC Goa] last season. Hopefully it is possible to reach [ACL qualifying] this season, « said the Spaniard.
