Israeli actress Shira Haas was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her role in Netflix’s « Unorthodox » series.
Haas has been nominated for best actress in a limited series, anthology series, or film made for television, the Golden Globes announced on Wednesday.

In the four-episode series, Haas plays Esther Shapiro, a young ultra-Orthodox woman from Williamsburg, Brooklyn who is fleeing the community for an uncertain future in Berlin.
The show was inspired by Deborah Feldman’s 2012 treatise, Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots.
Haas responded to the nomination in a video in Hebrew and said, « I’m very, very excited. I wanted to thank all the supporters and fans. I’m still recording. »
The 25-year-old Haas, whose breakout role in « Shtisel » also played an ultra-orthodox role, has already been recognized for her work and received an Ophir Award for her supporting role in « Noble » – the Israeli equivalent of the Academy Awards Savage “In 2018.
