An overly emotional Ivanka Trump burst into tears as she sat in the front row during her father’s last speech as the outgoing U.S. president.

Members of the Trump family have largely ignored the criticism they made on social media during their final day in their roles within the administration and inner circle of the White House.

The family, including Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner, their children Eric and Donald Jr., Tiffany Trump, and other Trump family members, were greeted on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews by Mr and Mrs Trump after their grand exit from the White House.

Ivanka, 39, was in an emotional state the last time her father left Washington DC on Air Force One.

In the early hours of the morning, the third child of US President Donald Trump, son Eric Trump, was the last to say goodbye to his sisters Ivanka and Tiffany and their mother-in-law Melania.

The day was described by those concerned as « light drizzle » and « cloak of darkness ».

Eric, trustee and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, sent a shorter message than most. Describing the past four years as a « beautiful trip », it contained a montage of highlights, but later published a longer message.

Mr Trump himself spent the day out of sight after clocking a full week without appearing publicly except on a taped farewell video message calling on Americans to « pray » for the success of the incoming administration.

It was before his big exit when he and Melania landed on Joint Base Andrews and were greeted by a gun salute and a group of supporters at an unprecedented farewell event.

He thanked his most important helpers, praised his hardworking family and wished the incoming administration good luck.

Even so, Trump was still making headlines earlier in the day after issuing a long list of pardons in his final hours in office. He has yet to congratulate Joe Biden, nor has he invited him for a cup of tea in the Oval Office in the Royal Blue Room of the White House during the transition, as is customary.

Ms. Melania, meanwhile, was also calm, and at the end of her first term, had the worst popularity rating for a first lady in a CNN poll.

Mr. Trump’s youngest daughter, Tiffany, made the most of her last day at the White House, announcing that she is engaged to be married to her partner Michael Boulos.

Her tweet came before a statement released by the White House press secretary announced a total of 73 official pardons and commuted the sentences of another 70 people in what is likely his final term as president.

Rapper Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Carter) is one of the mainstream names who made the cut.

One of the biggest names on the list is Trump’s influential former advisor Steve Bannon, who has not yet been tried on charges of fundraising at the border wall.

Mr. Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, « Tiger King » Joe Exotic, Julian Assange of WikiLeaks and Mr. Trump’s three eldest children – Eric, Ivanka and Donald Jr. – are said to have received a pardon but are nowhere to be found.

Ivanka made no mention of pardons when she left, but faced a number of angry reactions when she released her message on Wednesday saying she « prayed » for the success of new President Joe Biden.

« We mourn the families who have lost loved ones, » and urge all Americans to « use caution and common sense » in response to vaccines, she added.

In one of her most revealing statements about her four year residency, Melania thanked the « millions » of Americans who had supported her and her husband and said it was the « honor of my life to serve as your first lady. »
