Liverpool will continue to work tirelessly to get back on track and leave recent form behind, captain Jordan Henderson has vowed.

After three defeats in a row in the Premier League, the Reds travel to Budapest for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against RB Leipzig.

Jürgen Klopp’s squad, who takes full responsibility for these results, are aware of the need aware of increasing his fortune quickly and hopes that the game on Tuesday evening in the Puskas Arena can be the start of a positive run.

Read on how the skipper questions at a virtual press conference before the meeting with the Bundesliga answered by journalists …

Full responsibility. I know the manager tries to protect us as much as possible in the press, but as players we know that it’s up to us to change the situation we are in. We take full responsibility for results and performance. So it is up to us to go out, keep working hard, and keep fighting to try to change this difficult time we’ve been through in the past few weeks. Hopefully we can do that tomorrow.

I think it’s a new chance and a new challenge with a different game. That brings a new game. We have to play a very good team and be 100 percent to get anything out of the game. We know this is a great opportunity for us and we are 100 percent willing to give absolutely anything [over] 90 minutes to get a good result.

It’s difficult to be stable with the number of games to find. Obviously there aren’t a lot of training sessions so we get short training sessions in the week before and after the games to try to work defensively and offensively on things like we always do. It’s about listening and learning as much as you can and trying to bring that into play. It’s a difficult time for us, not just defensively. I think it’s the whole game – offensive, defensive, everything – that we have to keep improving and improving in order to try to change the form we’re in right now.

Leipzig are a very good team , very good players, very good manager. I think the game that stood out lately was probably the one against United. I think everyone knows that they are a very good team. But for us, yeah, we’ve been going through a tough time, but there are still a lot of positives from performing over the past week or so – we only have to do it for 90 minutes. If we do that, I have full confidence in the team that we can achieve a good result. But we have to be 100 percent if we want to get something.

Yes, it is difficult when we set standards that we have over a long period of time. Losing a few games in a short period of time is not normal for us, so we have to adjust to it very quickly. But I feel like the guys give everything every time we train, every time we play – and we have to do that and lower our heads to get out of this situation we are in. I feel like come out once – and hopefully this will be sooner rather than later – we will be much stronger as a team for this. I think strength sometimes comes from adversity and you stick together as a team and make it. And if we do that, we will surely be even stronger in the end.

Thiago has been brilliant since he came to the club. I think everyone knows how good they are. He’s a world class player and it was great to have him with us. He’s a really good person even outside of the field, sets a good example, gives everything and you can learn a lot from him. I think he was a fantastic addition to the squad. He’ll probably know Leipzig better than anyone, so I’m sure he’ll tell us a thing or two in the next 24 hours to help with this. But he has settled in very well, just as I had imagined. He’s a phenomenal player and hopefully every time he plays for us he can keep improving and getting used to the way we play as a team.
