The Spanish Football Association postponed Saturday’s game between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao because of a snow storm that closed the Spanish capital.
Bilbao was supposed to play at Atletico’s Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday afternoon, but the Basque club could not travel to Madrid as planned.
The plane with Bilbao’s team turned and returned to Bilbao after Madrid airport had to close on Friday evening due to snowfall and wintry weather.
The snow storm has covered large parts of Spain in snow, blocking traffic and leaving thousands of people trapped in cars or in train stations and airports that have shut down all services.
