After a summer with no community transmission of COVID-19, New Zealand health authorities have uncovered a « likely » new local case.
It is likely that the case has slipped out of New Zealand’s strict border regime, which requires that all international arrivals must be in a hotel for 14 days.
Reports indicate that the case found in Northland is linked to a person recently released from their « managed isolation ».
COVID-19 Minister Chris Hipkins will be giving an update on the case on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. NZDT (2:00 p.m. AEDT) along with General Manager of Health Ashley Bloomfield.
