Karlson was swimming with his two-year-old daughter when he spotted the tail of a stingray emerging from the water and meeting a seagull.
However, on closer inspection, he stopped found out that it was an octopus and made a video of the animal in the shallow water with its tentacles striking a sudden blow in Karlson’s direction.
« The octopus attacked us, which was a real shock » Karlson said in comments emailed to Reuters.
About 20 minutes later, Karlson decided to go for a swim when he saw the squid swimming away from a bed of clams.
« I was there for only a few seconds and looked at the mussels when I was hit on the arm from behind, « he told 7NEWS.com.au.
