Have you ever heard of a man who was hit by an octopus? As bizarre as it may seem, it actually happened. An Australian man was given a painful octopus whip in the end.

The incident occurred on a beach in Western Australia when geologist and author Lance Karlson was about to take a bath near the resort where he and his family were staying

Reuters reported in Geographe Bay on the southwest coast of Australia.

Karlson was swimming with his two-year-old daughter when he spotted the tail of a stingray emerging from the water and meeting a seagull.

However, on closer inspection, he stopped found out that it was an octopus and made a video of the animal in the shallow water with its tentacles striking a sudden blow in Karlson’s direction.

« The octopus attacked us, which was a real shock » Karlson said in comments emailed to Reuters.

About 20 minutes later, Karlson decided to go swimming when he saw the squid swimming away from a bed of clams.

« I was there for only a few seconds and looked at the mussels when I was hit from behind on the arm, « he told 7NEWS.com.au.

« My glasses fogged up and then I was hit again, this time in the neck. I swam quickly back to the shore about 25 meters away, he added.

Karlson said he ran back to the bank and saw raised prints of tentacles on his arm, neck and upper back. Since he didn’t have vinegar, his preferred treatment for seafood stings, he poured Coke over the affected area, which did well in stopping the sting.
