The 246-foot sailing yacht Phocea caught fire off an island near Langkawi, Malaysia on February 18. While at anchor less than a nautical mile northeast of Pulau Singa Kecil (Lion Island), the yacht was cared for by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), which rescued seven crew members who are reported to be safe and uninjured. Phocea, the ninth largest sailing yacht, was first built in 1976 for the single-handed sailor Alain Colas as Club Mediterranée, but was converted into a cruise yacht in 1986. – Full report
