The city is setting up a 8:00 p.m. Curfew and a state of emergency to try to control the horde of spring breakers who have flooded the area.

« Too many people are coming here right now, » said Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber , at a press conference on Saturday. « Our town in this area has turned to tinder and we can’t just hope it won’t be lit up. »

The new curfew in Miami Beach is intended to try to contain the party, which has sometimes resulted in disorderly behavior and violence in recent weeks.

The Clevelander Hotel, a popular party venue in Miami Beach, announced that it that it will close its shop until at least next weekend as a lot of young people have been coming to Miami Beach.

Mayor Gelber said he does not accuse them of wanting to close because it feels like this city is under siege .

Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said the city made over 900 arrests in February and March. The city recently called in reinforcements from Miami to add police presence to the streets.

Other cities in Florida have also cracked down on Spring Breakers. Fort Lauderdale said there were increased police patrols following a shooting and other violent incidents.
