Say hello to the new 2022 Kawasaki KLR 650. Sometimes only minor changes are needed to turn an otherwise legendary ADV machine into a modern day explorer. For Kawasaki, the KLR has been an adventure-inspired platform since it rolled off the assembly line in 1987. A simple four-stroke single cylinder with ample fuel capacity and a modest price tag.

Not much has changed since 1987, apart from an aesthetic overhaul in 2008, so it came as a surprise to many when Kawasaki decided to stop producing the KLR 650 to be discontinued in 2018. Fast forward to the end of 2020, a year that was still going on, lots of people with little to look forward to. And yet, an announcement by the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer about a new dual-sport model on the horizon raised some hopes and certainly a few eyebrows. Would this be a remake of the legendary KLR or some other aesthetic update? Well, we were pleased to see that it was a bit of both. Subtle changes. Minor upgrades.

Notable changes include the addition of fuel injection to the 652cc single cylinder DOHC engine for increased reliability and fuel efficiency. A new multifunctional digital instrument panel and a new fuel tank design with a larger usable volume. A standard LED headlamp is a much-needed update, along with a larger front brake rotor and optional ABS. In addition, the 2022 model offers updated ergonomics to make long-distance driving more comfortable. This is partly thanks to a 30 mm longer swing arm with a swivel shaft with a 2 mm larger diameter, which also contributes to better handling.

The adjustable Uni-Trak system with 185 mm travel is located at the rear and complements the settings the front fork. It offers progressive rear suspension while also contributing to a low center of gravity.

For 2022, the KLR will be available with a selection of original Kawasaki accessories, such as: B. redesigned side cases and a top case that is larger enough to fit on a helmet. In addition to luggage, accessories also include heated grips, LED auxiliary lights, motor protection, DC power socket and a USB socket.

All in all, the updates are cautious, but necessary and have kept the price reasonable. The 2022 KLR 650 is available in Pearl Sand Khaki and Pearl Lava Orange. The KLR 650 ABS is available in Pearl Sand Khaki. The KLR 650 ADVENTURE model is available in Cypher Camo Gray and the KLR 650 TRAVELER model is available in Pearl Lava Orange.

For 2022, Kawasaki is welcoming the return of the widely used and critically acclaimed all-new KLR650 motorcycle to its range. The all-new 2022 KLR650 receives additional fuel injection for the 652cc Single cylinder engine that offers increased reliability and fuel efficiency. A new multifunctional digital instrument panel with fuel gauge is combined with a new fuel tank design with a larger usable volume. Numerous parts have been updated to increase driving confidence when carrying luggage, reduce vibrations and increase generator capacity. This contributes to the improved performance and driving comfort required when looking for a tough adventure partner.

The brand new KLR650 has a new LED headlight, is available with optional ABS, offers a great driving position for the whole day Driving comfort and offers a lot of load capacity. For 2022, the KLR650 motorcycle will also be available in two new special editions that include a range of original Kawasaki accessories, including side cases, engine guards, LED auxiliary lights and more.

The KLR650 is considered to be one of the most famous, reliable and dependable Motors of the motorcycle industry driven. Its liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder, 652cc engine has a DOHC cylinder head and creates a flat power curve that allows you to navigate demanding roads and drive at highway speeds. The 2022 model is now equipped with fuel injection which, along with the larger usable volume of the fuel tank, helps provide greater range between fuel stops, while updates for longer life ensure the reliability expected from an adventure tourer.

With the With initial fuel injection, starting the KLR650 has never been easier, especially at high altitude or in cold weather, and its reliability and performance have increased. A 10-hole fine atomization injector sprays 60 µm droplets, which contributes to an efficient air-fuel mixture for efficient combustion. Revised intake and exhaust cam profiles improve mid-range performance and torque properties. A stronger material and a stronger shape of the cam chain guide contribute to the increased reliability.

The exhaust pipe diameter has been reduced by 7.7 mm in order to improve the torque properties in the middle range and to better suit daily driving. An oxygen sensor provides feedback to the fuel injection system, contributing to cleaner exhaust emissions and greater fuel efficiency.

Several updates have been made to improve shift feel and reduce weight. In the clutch and in the gearbox, the clutch release bearings have been changed from ball bearings to pressure needle bearings, the gear dogs and shift fork have been redesigned in third gear, and now a new finish is applied to fourth and fifth gear.

A new sealed battery increases comfort and is considerably lighter than the previous battery. The starter, ignition coil and evaporator canister have all been redesigned and are now lighter than previous models.

The proven and high-strength semi-double cradle frame on the KLR650 motorcycle receives several updates from the 2022 model. The updates now include a rear frame that fits in the main frame is integrated to increase the torsional stiffness for a more compact ride, and a 30 mm longer swing arm with a pivot shaft with a 2 mm larger diameter, which also contributes to better handling.

The settings for the front and rear suspension complete the new frame and make you feel better. In order to meet the demands both on the road and off-road, 41 mm front forks with 200 mm suspension travel take over the front suspension tasks and ensure the rigidity required for excellent performance. Fixed fork springs offer excellent shock resistance and ground strength and at the same time reduce the front-end dive when braking heavily.

An adjustable Uni-Trak system with 185 mm of travel is located at the rear and complements the settings of the front fork. It offers progressive rear suspension while contributing to a low center of gravity. Fixed rear shock settings help withstand the ground on uneven terrain and take heavy loads. By adjusting the rear spring preload and rebound damping, riders can customize suspension settings to suit the riding conditions and preferences of the rider. The settings for the front fork and rear shock absorber complement each other for easy, sharp handling on slippery roads and at the same time offer the performance required off-road.

The more powerful engine of the KLR650 motorcycle is complemented by a larger 300 mm front brake disc, the one delivers significantly greater braking force. The disc shape has been changed from a petal-like disc to a round disc, which adds to its tough appearance. The disc on the rear brakes has been thickened to ensure better heat dissipation when braking hard. Similar to the front, the shape of the rear disc is now round. Models with and without ABS are now available and the ABS provides additional driver safety when driving on low-friction surfaces.

The KLR650 is equipped with a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel that allow driving to continue can be when the paved road ends. There is now a stronger material on the rear wheel rim that provides improved torsional rigidity and longer life. The front and rear tires are tube types that allow the driver to make any necessary roadside repairs. Larger diameter front and rear axles add both durability and handling.

The KLR650 has long been known for its comfortable, upright riding position and has been optimized for 2022 to provide a stress-free position for a longer adventure . A significant improvement was the reduction of vibrations caused by parts that come into contact with the driver, which further contributes to comfort on long journeys.

The finely tuned handlebar and footrest positions were each moved 10 mm outwards to the To ensure adjustability and to bring the rider into a slightly more relaxed position to support longer hours in the saddle. The handlebars and footrests are now rubberized and reduce vibrations for more comfort. The KLR650 chassis has been equipped with a new fuel tank that offers a natural fit with the driver’s knees for comfort and improved controllability. While the volume of the new fuel tank remains the same, the usable volume has been increased through redesign and a new fuel pump that pulls from the bottom of the tank and contributes to a longer range.

To support the driver in front, there is a new elegant one Windshield that is now 50mm higher to provide better wind protection. It can be adjusted in two positions, with which the height of the windshield can easily be increased by a further 30 mm. The seat shape and the cover have been redesigned and the optimized urethane thickness and strength all contribute to increased driving comfort. Rubber bumpers have been added under the seat to further improve driver comfort. Passenger grab handles have been reshaped to improve passenger comfort. The kickstand has been shortened by 30 mm to make it easier to set up on the bike.

The robust design of the KLR650 reflects the capabilities of the bike for an unforgettable adventure. New colors and textured graphics have been specially chosen to emphasize the robustness. The modern design includes a protective cover band design that contributes to a functional and robust image, while a new design of the side cover and a rear fairing hold the robust design package together. In addition to the windshield, which provides increased wind protection, it also adds to the tough appearance of the adventure tourer that Kawasaki engineers wanted to achieve with the KLR650.

A new bright LED headlight illuminates the path when the ride is after sunset continues, and also adds to the intended adventure styling. At the rear, a revised taillight and turn signal design contribute to the robust styling. The rear field of vision has been improved thanks to longer mirror arms.

A fully digital instrument panel provides information at a glance on a large display and an easy-to-read LCD screen with white backlighting. The instrument panel has a speedometer, an odometer, two odometers, a fuel gauge, a clock and indicator lights. The restricted display list prioritizes the visibility of the speedometer and the fuel gauge.

With a range of Kawasaki Genuine Accessories (KGA), drivers can customize the look of their KLR650 and offer additional comfort and convenience. Kawasaki accessory side bags and top cases are designed to provide a clean look with their well-coordinated design.
