World news – Porsche can enter the F1 competition

Formula 1 racing fans are always on the lookout for more competition and more powerful cars. Something interesting has surfaced claiming legendary sports car maker Porsche and its parent company Volkswagen Group are considering entering the Formula 1 competition. Porsche and its parent company are reportedly considering entering the F1 competition if the next sport engine regulations, expected to be rolled out in 2025, meet the company’s goals.

Fritz Enzinger, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, said that F1 races would be of « great interest » if the regulations were to focus on sustainability issues, especially e-fuels. The executive said that if these green issues were confirmed, they would evaluate them in detail and discuss further steps. F1 is considering e-fuels, which are climate-neutral fuels that can power internal combustion engines without harming the environmental impact of normal fossil fuels.

There are several types of e-fuels available, some of which are biofuels made from biomass and others are entirely synthetic and manufactured using industrial processes that sequester carbon in the atmosphere. F1 officials have committed the sport to make e-fuels a central component from 2025.

F1 officials have confirmed that Porsche is involved in discussions about new engine rules. It would be very interesting to see how Porsche gets into Formula 1 against other big manufacturers like Mercedes and Ferrari who play a big role in this sport. Formula 1 plans to achieve net zero carbon status by 2030. Sources have confirmed that if the VW Group chooses to run the F1 competition, it will be with either the Porsche or Audi brands. Both brands have significant racing efforts in other areas of motorsport.

An interesting potential for Porsche or Audi and Red Bull to tie Red Bull is the loss of its engine partner. Honda has announced that it will be pulling out of F1 racing at the end of the current season, but Red Bull will keep Honda engines running until the end of 2024.
