The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape, has ordered that a bronze statue be erected in honor of Sir Michael Somare on Independence Hill in Port Moresby.
The postal courier also reported that the government also Sir Michael’s wish to be buried in Kreer Heights in Wewak, East Sepik.
Mr Marape said the normal Melanesian « House Krai » should take place in the National Capital District by Thursday next week.
On Thursday next week parliament will hold a special session with Sir Michael’s body in the state.
On Friday the 12th, a public holiday, the funeral will take place, after which Sir Michael’s body will be flown to East Sepik.
