According to government officials, Pakistan’s national power grid has severely collapsed, leaving millions of people in the dark.
« A nationwide power outage was caused by a sudden drop in the frequency of the electricity transmission system, » Energy Minister Omar Ayub Khan said on Twitter on Saturday.
According to the minister, the blackout was caused after the frequency in the national electricity distribution system suddenly dropped from 50 to zero.
In 2015, around 80 percent of the country was without power after the failure of an important transmission line.
