World news – Report: Mets agrees to deal with Almora

The New York Mets added a new center fielder and agreed to a deal with free agent Albert Almora Jr., sources said Ken Rosenthal and Andy McCullough of The Athletic.

According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network Almora is expected to get a major league deal with reasonable incentives.

The 26-year-old has spent the last five seasons with the Chicago Cubs and owned a .271 / .309 / .398 slash line with eight in 489 The Florian native is considered a strong defender and fulfills a need as a right-handed addition to Brandon Nimmo in midfield.

Almora’s addition will likely take the Mets out of the running for Jackie Bradley Jr. New York was with Bradley and George Springer before signing with the Toronto Blue Jays.
