General Manager Sean Marks said Wednesday that Kyrie Irving was going through his own internal turmoil, and he admitted the Nets had some level of concern about whether they were getting enough help and help from their all-star point guard Provide support.

« We’re always concerned for all of our players and Kyrie is no different from anyone. When a man asks for help, we have to be there, » Marks said of WFAN.

« He owned even that in the press conference that he’s dealing with some personal matters, and no doubt we all … from time to time … have to step back and recharge or refocus.  » We can only support Ky and make sure we do all we can and help him. And he’s committed to helping yourself honestly and being out there again. And we’ll see what turns out great tonight. «

The Nets are expecting to finally see Irving again Wednesday night in Cleveland after missing seven games in a row. He said goodbye to the team for personal reasons and then had to serve a five-day quarantine period due to NBA contact tracing and spent the last two games getting back to 100 percent.

Marks also commented on how concerned the networks were about Irving’s headspace during this vacation and whether the organization was internal due to the lengthy absence of the point guard in the Midseason was upset.

« It comes in waves, right? » Said Marks. « We’ve had conversations all the time for the past 10 days. They start from a level of concern, a level of yes, there is definitely a concern about how we can help them. Are we doing the best we can for this young man? It would be very naive and pretty callous of us to come out and say we’re mad … we’re playing a game of basketball here because we’re being honest.

« And matters that need to be addressed – whether in the Dressing room or one-on-one – these things need to be kept close to the vest and within the family. All I can tell you is I had a great talk with Kyrie this morning. He’s looking forward to getting back on the field approached the team as a group and individually with the boys. «

Marks admitted that Irving had to discuss some of his behaviors with his teammates during his vacation. Irving was caught on video without a mask at a birthday party at a public venue in West Orange, New Jersey. That earned him his five-day quarantine, an NBA fine, and cost him two gaming checks valued at over $ 800,000.

It also took some explanation, with Marks admitting that this was the part that got him on most disappointed.

« Yes, without a doubt, » said Marks. « And I talked to Ky about it. And he apologized not only to myself, but also to the team and did not shy away from it and showed the humility and vulnerability of saying: » Look, I was wrong, I have to find out. « And yes, he knows where we are on.

» Again, it goes back to the fact that we have to trust each other … All of us. We are all together, we are all trying to cross the finish line here And in order to do that, we have to sacrifice and ultimately trust. «
