The Meteorological Bureau has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the southeast, including the Sunshine Coast.
The office says the warning is currently for people in parts of the Southeast Coast, Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs counties.
The warning was issued at 2 p.m. with the risk of wind damage, large hailstones and heavy rainfall.
Forecaster Matt Marshall said while the office was monitoring the activity, he said it « definitely has the potential » to hit the coast.
« We’re watching it come up and it has the potential, » Marshall said.
« The heaviest parts will be more inland and a little later affect the coastal margins. »
