The way Sia’s film « portrays » autistic stimming is literally the way bullies at school make fun of autistic people. It’s not a representation, it’s not informative, and it’s not helpful. It’s disgusting. She claims to have read up on autism, it’s clear she didn’t.
I’m so glad to see threads about Sia’s « music » go viral. It’s just a mean, shitty, high performing junk movie, and people need to know that. I doubt this will do much in the long run when it comes to disability / autism (this conversation has happened so many times …) but I suppose for now.
