The rested Phoenix Suns (7-4) will be competing on Monday at the FedExForum in a special competition for Martin Luther King Day in the city where the civil rights activist is standing 53 years ago, against the grazing Memphis Grizzlies (6-6).
The Suns last played on January 11 in a loss to the Wizard between 128 and 107. The loss to Washington was the worst of the season in Phoenix – but the defeat was compounded when a Wizards COVID outbreak forced the Suns to postpone their last three games for contact tracking purposes.
As for Memphis, reigning rookie of the year Ja Morant had One day off Friday to rest that sprained ankle when the Grizzlies-Timberwolves game was postponed due to coronavirus issues in Minnesota. The postponement was the first for Memphis this season. Morant returned to log 30 minutes and finished with 17 points in a 106-104 win over the 76ers on Saturday.
The Grizzlies have won four and three in a row in that run from last season. Given the series history, the way they play right now, and the Sun’s sacking, it’s a little surprising that Phoenix is preferred at this point. There are also plenty of props for players to consider.
Devin Booker can hit the ball in bundles. So far this season, the Suns star has averaged just 23 points per game. This is the lowest value since his second year in the league – when he started.

The semi- Booker’s down season so far has been difficult to diagnose. Perhaps playing a nationally televised TNT game on a special holiday will motivate the player who was named their first All-Star Team last year.
Perhaps being Memphis is the perfect tonic for Memphis facing. He has fielded 36 and 40 in his last two games against the Grizzlies. I’m looking for him to end his season with a big night in Bluff City.
With Ja Morant falling off the board due to his uncertain status due to his ankle injury, a trio of Grizzlies can bet on Monday. In the eight games Morant missed the ankle, three different players became the team’s top scorer: Kyle Anderson, Dillon Brooks and Jonas Valanciunas. After Valanciunas left the board on Monday, we turn to Anderson and Brooks.
Since Morant will probably play, I love the all-rounder Anderson, who shines in a free role as Swiss Army Knife on Monday. Anderson put up a line with 11 points, six rebounds and five assists on Saturday, and I can see a similar excursion on the horizon on Monday.
Anderson averages 4.3 assists per game, which is above the threshold of 3.5 on Monday. At 130, you also get great value for money.
The other Memphis player I’ll be betting on is Dillon Brooks. He’s been the team’s top scorer three times in the past few weeks – and I expect him to score against a less than suffocating Suns defense. And while over 16.5 points offer a better value at -120, this is less secure than his prop from outside the arc.
Brooks averaged 2.1 made three pointers per game (at 6.5 attempts). That’s decent volume. And while the payout is only -145 for over 1.5, it’s a far more likely payout.
