The newest chapter in the Canada-US hockey rivalry will be written on Tuesday night when the two teams meet in the Junior World Championship gold medal game.

Team Canada has played six games in the tournament so far and recorded another convincing win on Monday than Russia in the Defeated the semi-final game 5-0. Canada wants to set a perfect record at the tournament for the first time since 2015, when it did the trick on home ice in Toronto and Montreal.
Finland stormed back in the third half to wipe out the 3-1 lead, but with just over a minute in the game, Arthur Kaliyev tore the game winner home. When the US booked their ticket to the gold medal game, they will face the Canadians.
The United States struggled more on their way to the gold medal game after losing their tournament opener to Russia 5-3 had. Team USA have won five games in a row since that defeat, including a 4-3 semi-final win over Finland. Arthur Kaliyev scored the winning goal by less than 90 seconds after the USA were two goals ahead in the third half. « It was a great hockey game and Finland is a great team, » said US head coach Nate Leaman after the win. “We showed a lot of mental toughness. When they pinned it down, our playmakers ran out and made a great game to win the game. We’re really looking forward to playing for gold tomorrow. «
Canada didn’t know their opponent after beating Russia, although head coach Andre Tourigny said the team was ready for the pressure in either scenario.

With the win, Canada will repeat themselves as champions of the tournament and take their third gold in four years.
Meanwhile, the USA are looking for their first gold medal since 2017 after they have already returned to the podium in the quarter-finals of last year’s tournament.
