World news – The journey to the wild planet has been interrupted in Stadia, and Google has laid off the developers who could have fixed the problem

Journey To The Savage Planet has a game bug in Stadia but Google fired Typhoon Studios and now no one knows who is going to fix it.

Journey To The Savage Planet landed on Google Stadia last month, but unfortunately it came with a groundbreaking bug that makes it unplayable. It’s a pretty serious problem that you would think the developers were going to be working on it ASAP. However, Google made these developers obsolete earlier this month, and now nobody seems to know who should be working on a fix.

The trip to Savage Planet was made by Typhon Studios, which were purchased by Google in 2019. Unfortunately, the developers were laid off when Google closed its in-house studios a few weeks ago, affecting around 150 jobs.

In stadiums, some players will not be able to play the game at all as it will freeze when they try to select an option from the main menu. Looking for a solution to this problem, Reddit user « lordubuntu » contacted both Google and the publisher of Journey To The Savage Planet, 505 Games, who both seemed to be pointing fingers to say, « This is. » their problem « .

Stadia support said they should contact 505. However, 505 said that all of the game code and data for Stadia was owned by Google, so there was nothing they could do. According to 505 support, Google acted as the publisher for the game on Stadia as they owned Typhoon Studios. So Google was the only one who could really solve the problem.

The latest update to the saga is a comment on Lordubuntu’s thread by a Stadia community manager who wrote, « I understand how frustrating this situation is, and I’m sorry for the delayed update. We are actively working with our partners to identify it You a fix and I’ll do my best to keep updates posted.  »

A similar response on Stadia’s Twitter is that they are working on a fix with their « partner publisher ». I wonder who they mean by that, though. If 505 didn’t work on the Stadia version, could it be them?

I hope there is a solution for players who enjoyed the game in Stadia. Our review of Journey To The Savage Planet said it was a fun little space game, and it would be a shame if one of the few games Stadia has remained unplayable.

I asked Google and 505 Games for a comment, but haven’t received any responses at the time of publication.
