World news – The Menendez brothers have been incarcerated in the same prison since 2018

The Menendez brothers, convicted of joint homicide of their parents in 1989, currently live in the same California prison.

It’s been more than 30 years since Erik and Lyle Menendez were first accused of killing their parents, whom they described as abusive, at their Beverly Hills home, and their story still attracts a lot of attention on yourself. The final round of attention has focused in part on whether the brothers are in the same prison where they are serving their life sentences, and if so, how long they were under the same roof.

The Menendez have lived in the same prison. In February of that year, Lyle Menendez was transferred from Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California to the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego. The brothers also live in the same unit in prison.

In a post on both brothers’ Facebook page attributed to Lyle, they announced that they would reunite for the first time in 22 years. « We have been working for the past 6 years to get the proofreading department to bring us together, » the post explained. « I asked to be transferred to San Diego to be with Erik. It’s been a long ordeal, but I’ve never felt hopeless.

» I’m very grateful to let you know that the application was finally approved on Monday. Erik and I will reunite in the near future, « the post continued.

Terry Thornton, Assistant Secretary of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, stated that at a classification hearing for Lyle it was determined that there was no reason to why the brothers couldn’t reunite.

« They can and must interact with each other, all inmates in this facility, » said Thornton.

In the announcement that he would be transferred, Lyle thanked them for that too Support he received from those who followed his journey.

« I would like to thank the large number of people across the country who felt strongly that my brother and I should be together, and for each other Took the time to pray for this result and to wish us all the best, « Lyle wrote.

Dear friends,

I want to wish everyone a happy Valentine’s Day. I adore my wife more than ever now …

Both brothers are classed as « Level 2 » or « Medium Custody » inmates, and both serve without parole. Thornton also stated that it is possible that an inmate’s level in prison could decline through good behavioral and rehabilitation programs.

« There are many case factors that play a role in deciding where to place an inmate » Thornton explained at the time. « Any type of family problem, any program the perpetrator might be eligible for, what the perpetrator needs in terms of educational programs – all of these and other factors are taken into account. »

Although the Menendez Brothers have no hope, ever walking freely, the brothers seem to take some comfort in the fact that they are able to be together. Both brothers are now in their fifties and still post regular updates about their lives on social media.
