Wicklow artists are invited to apply for scholarships from a new € 2 million fund aimed at creative projects that respond to the challenge of climate change.
Creative Climate Action is part of the Creative Ireland program and will run over a two-year period in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications. Local authorities and creative practitioners are encouraged to use their engagement skills to respond to the cultural challenge of climate change.
Minister of Culture and Art Catherine Martin said, “I am very proud to support Creative Climate Action. This unique fund is a call to the arts, culture, heritage and the broader creative communities to engage the public on the climate crisis. If climate change is essentially only about cultural change, who better to take on than the cultural and creative world?
‘We are looking for projects that connect people in a meaningful way with the profound changes in our environment, society and economy can convert this connection into climate protection and behavioral changes.
‘We are looking for ideas that stimulate the imagination, achieve real impact, reach new target groups and work together. Artists, designers, cultural and creative practitioners who live and work through creative practice are good at making things visible, starting dialogues, addressing fears and finding solutions. We want to hear what these solutions are and support them. ‘
The applications are now open. More information is available at www.creativeireland.gov.ie. The application deadline is May 21st.
