According to police, a targeted arson attack in west Sydney cost a small business owner more than $ 300,000 in damage.
Officials have investigated a number of incidents at knockout nutrition stores in St. Marys and Rouse Hill following fires in 2019 and 2020.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Puffett is confident that newly released CCTV footage will help police find the culprits.
« Arson detectives have conducted extensive investigations into these three attacks, which appear to have been targeted and linked, » he said.
« Our initial research shows that those involved have extensive knowledge of the two companies and have gone to great lengths to ensure that any fire causes significant damage.
« In total, more than $ 300,000 was sustained in all three incidents – a significant financial loss for any business owner. This type of crime is of great concern to the police and can lead to serious injury to the community or death. »
The first fire started on July 25th last year. Fire and Rescue NSW managed to put out the fire on Queens Street, St. Marys, but the company suffered significant damage.
Police were told that witnesses saw two men break into the building before setting it on fire.
Four months later, on November 14th, another fire broke out in the same store. Police said a man drove an Audi into the store and destroyed the security shutters before starting the fire.
On November 25th last year there was another attack at the Knockout Nutrition Store in Rouse Hill.
The fire started in the Market Lane store and the store was seriously damaged.
Nobody was injured, and preliminary investigations revealed that a man had broken into the store with a hammer before setting the store on fire.
