NUKU’ALOFA – Former Wallabies backrower Toutai Kefu was reappointed coach of the Tongan rugby team until the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
There were 35 applicants for the position and Kefu, the Tonga coached in Japan from 2016 to the 2019 World Cup was a « unanimous decision, » the Tonga Rugby Union Board said in a statement. Peter Harding, CEO of Tonga Rugby, said Kefu would promptly select and prepare one Kaders for the World Cup qualifiers begin in July.
